NEXT: Speaking of food…
We’ve been getting a lot of questions about the meal tickets at RinCon and how they’re going to work. Here’s the scoop:
- We got feedback last year that it was often difficult to get back to the gaming table by the end of meal breaks because food venues were so far away and service was unpredictable, and that it was inconvenient overall for people under 21 because they weren’t permitted to cross through the casino areas to get to the restaurants unaccompanied.
- Casino del Sol declined to offer the resort-wide gift cards again.
- So, instead of everyone having to trek to the restaurants, they will be bringing some of the most popular menu items from several of the casino’s food venues to us! The casino will be running a super convenient grab-and-go meal concessions stand right in the conference center.
- When you pick up your RinCon badge, we’ll include all the tickets you’ve purchased. Each ticket can be exchanged at the concessions stand for any one meal of that type (a breakfast ticket is good for breakfast either Saturday or Sunday, a lunch/dinner ticket is good for any lunch or dinner).
- Hours: Breakfast will be available from 8:00-10:00, lunch from 12:30-2:30, dinner from 5:30-8:30, and a bar serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages from 5:30-11:30. Between these hours, they will sell snacks and beverages for cash/card purchase.
- Menu: See our ticketing site (scroll down under the logo) for the different menu items available at each meal time, and folks with sensitivities or dietary restrictions can see this page for meal components. All meals will come with a beverage, lunches and dinners will come with fruit or chips.
- Cost: Pre-sales are at a 30% discount from onsite costs for meals: Pre-sales are only $5.50 for breakfasts, $11 for lunches and dinners, and $6.50 for a craft cocktail/mocktail or pour of wine or spirits.
- Depending on sales, we may have a limited number of meal tickets onsite. If you want to take advantage of the convenience of grab-and-go full meals, though, we suggest buying them ahead of time.
- The casino will have these same menu options available for cash/card purchase onsite, but they will be significantly more expensive.
We hope this helps you understand how everything works. We try hard to make everything as convenient as possible for our attendees!
NEXT: Times and deadlines
Dates and times are flying by now, as we approach the big day!
Sunday, October 13th, 10PM: Last chance for GM discounts on RinCon badges for submitting games; submission site will still be open.
Sunday, October 20th, 2PM: Game sign-ups open for attendees with RinCon badges. Make sure you’ve gotten yourself set up with your sched.com account before then!
Tuesday, October 31st, 4PM: Last day to get group rates at the Casino Del Sol hotel (if they have not previously sold out).
Monday, November 4th, 10PM: Game submission site closes; GMs may always bring games to set up and play in the open gaming areas at RinCon.
Thursday, November 7th, 10PM: Meal ticket sales close (if not already sold out).
Sunday, November 10th, 11:59PM: RinCon online ticket sales close. Badges will be available for purchase at the door.
AND LAST (but certainly not least):
We need help. 😉 RinCon is a 100% community-based, volunteer-run event – it’s YOUR convention. We have many kinds of volunteer opportunities left, and we are still looking for some more board game submissions. Volunteering brings you closer to other members of the amazing tabletop games community here in southern AZ, and the best way to guarantee that your favorite game hits the table at RinCon is to submit it to the schedule, and check the box on the submission form that says that you, the host, will be playing in the game. Either way of getting involved will earn a pro-rated or free RinCon badge: every 4 hours (whether before, during, or after the event) gets you a free 1-day badge or 1/3 off the cost of a full weekend badge.
Thanks to everyone who supports us, and we can’t wait to see you at RinCon 2024, November 15-17 at the Casino Del Sol Conference Center!
